Featherman
A mobile game about wetlands and migratory birds
Featherman is a mobile game that uses entertainment as a vehicle for environmental education. Built by an international team of students in Hong Kong and developed in partnership with the WWF Mai Po Nature Reserve, the game focuses on a quietly urgent topic: the wetlands that migratory birds depend on, and the urban pressures slowly eroding them.
The team visited Mai Po, worked with local conservation experts and wove the research findings into the game world — characters, missions and habitat depictions are grounded in actual ecology. The aim was twofold: reach a younger audience through a medium they already inhabit, and give an NGO a new channel to talk about wetland management without sounding like a campaign poster.
Featherman launched on iOS and Android and was promoted through social media outreach in collaboration with WWF. The project marked the foundation of Hagao Studio.
